Cardener River through the Bages

The river Cardener rises at the Fonts del Cardener, in la Coma i la Pedra, at about 1,100 metres above sea level, and runs some 90 kilometres before flowing into the Llobregat. On its course through the Bages it runs 46.7 kilometres, more than half of its total course, between Súria and Manresa, receiving tributaries such as the Rajadell stream and the Cornet stream. Its average flow is 6.16 cubic metres per second at Manresa and 2.74 at Súria. In the 19th century its banks became lined with canals that provided the motive power for the numerous textile factories that flourished along its course.
