Wayside Cross of the Pont Vell Monument · Manresa, Bages, Barcelona A wayside cross in Manresa, also known as the creu de la Guia because of its proximity to the hermitage of the same name, first documented in 1501. It consists of a three-step sandstone platform, a prismatic base with a square plan and bevelled edges, a square-section shaft also bevelled, and a simple capital of Sant Vicenç stone on which the cross rises; the original column and capital are thought to have come from the old convent of the Dominican nuns of Valldaura. The stone column was replaced by an iron cross in 1838; a storm destroyed the column, capital and cross in 1911 — now kept in the municipal museum —, a new one was installed in 1912, and the architect Pons Sorolla rebuilt it in 1961, reusing the original base.
