Castle of Callús Monument · Callús, Bages, Barcelona Callús castle, also called Gotmar castle, stood on a hill overlooking the town of Callús, near the river Cardener, in the Bages. It has been documented since the mid-10th century, when it is named Godmare; in 1026 it received the name Casteluç, which became Castluç in 1054, and it was torn down during the civil war against John II, in 1462. Together with the old parish of Sant Sadurní, it was the centre of the town's collective life until the late 19th century, when the textile industry arrived at the crossing of the Cardener. Of the fortress only a ruined circular tower survives, seven metres in outer diameter and 1.5 metres in wall thickness, along with remains of walls of various heights and lengths.
