Castle of Castellolí Monument · Castellolí, Anoia, Barcelona A ruined castle located beside the road that linked Igualada and the Òdena basin with Barcelona, at a strategic point for defending the left bank of the Llobregat. Documented from July 990 as “castrum Audelino” in a donation, it appears again in the sacramental will of December 1003 of Audesindo, who died defending it from a Saracen siege; Pope Sylvester II confirmed its ownership by the monastery of Sant Cugat. In 1268 James I ordered it handed over to the castellan of Montblanc, and in 1375 it was incorporated into the county of Cardona, playing a strategic role in the Reapers' War (1640-1652). Of the enclosure there survive fragments of wall, a large cistern and two vaulted rooms, along with the apse of what was once the Romanesque church of Sant Feliu, a parish church until 1705.
