The Church of Santa María del Castillo de Torrecilla Monument · Torrecilla de la Orden, Tierra del Vino, Valladolid Declared a monumento histórico-artístico (a former Spanish heritage category, now subsumed into the Bien de Interés Cultural designation) in 1982, this three-nave church, its naves separated by pillars, combines a plaster vault over the central nave with barrel vaults and lunettes over the side aisles, a shallow dome over the main chapel, and a Mudéjar strapwork coffered ceiling, alongside a notable plateresque altarpiece. The tower began to be built in Mudéjar style during the 15th century on an ashlar stone base; in the 16th and early 17th centuries it continued in Renaissance style, with a belfry and classical cornice, and in the late 17th century it was topped with a Baroque octagonal dome, crowned by a copper armillary ball and a wrought-iron weathervane cross.
