The Romanesque church of Nuestra Señora de Piña Monument · Piña de Esgueva, Páramos del Esgueva, Valladolid Image of Piña de Esgueva, not of the place itself. A Romanesque building from the 12th and 13th centuries with two naves covered by ribbed vaults; in the 18th century they were covered with plasterwork, adding a Baroque layer over the original medieval structure. It is the parish church of Piña de Esgueva; it belonged to the diocese of Palencia and since 1955 has formed part of the archdiocese of Valladolid. It originally had a single nave with a star-ribbed vault and an apse-ended chancel, entered through a round triumphal arch; the second nave and the tower at the foot of the church were added in the Early Modern period. The apse preserves a window with Romanesque archivolts and corbels carved with zoomorphic heads and pine cones, and on the south wall opens the original doorway, with a pointed arch and capitals carved with lions and griffins.
