The dolmen of the Casa del Moro Nature · Gejuelo del Barro, Tierra de Ledesma, Salamanca Image of Gejuelo del Barro, not of the place itself. The dolmen of the Casa del Moro is located on the Muélledes estate, in the south-western corner of the municipality of Gejuelo del Barro, and was discovered in 1915 by César Morán Bardón. It is the best preserved in the province of Salamanca: a passage grave with a circular chamber about 3.30 metres in diameter, formed by ten granite orthostats, and a passage of more than 6 metres oriented south-east, of which three original covering slabs survive. The complex occupies the central part of a sub-circular mound 31 by 27 metres and a little over 1.5 metres in average height. Excavations have uncovered materials from the third millennium BC, typical of the dolmen culture, together with a later Bell Beaker occupation. It was declared an archaeological zone on 4 December 1997. The municipality, which in the 13th century was called Sexolo in the Leonese language, today has barely thirty-one inhabitants.
