El Tornadizo Village · El Tornadizo, Sierra de Francia, Salamanca El Tornadizo is a village in the Salamanca comarca of the Sierra de Francia, in the Las Quilamas sub-comarca, with 88 inhabitants split between the village itself and Mata de Arriba, where barely a handful of residents still live. It was founded during the resettlement carried out by the kings of León between the late 12th and early 13th centuries, within the alfoz of Monleón, and had 137 inhabitants in the mid-19th century; since the year 2000 it has lost around a third of its population. It celebrates the Virgen del Rosario on 8 September, with novilladas and vaquillas, and San Sebastián on 20 January. Photo: Estevoaei (CC BY-SA 4.0) What to see and do in El Tornadizo
