Roman Villa of La Olmeda Nature · Pedrosa de la Vega, Vega-Valdavia, Palencia The Roman villa of La Olmeda is a Late Roman agricultural estate in the municipality of Pedrosa de la Vega (Palencia), with a manor house of about 3,000 square metres that enjoyed its heyday between the reigns of Constantine I and Theodosius I the Great, until it was abandoned in the 6th century. The main building, square in plan with four corner towers, is arranged around a courtyard that was once a peristyle, and preserves a set of mosaics regarded as among the most important in Spain, with hunting scenes and scenes from the legend of Achilles. It was discovered in 1968 and declared a Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection) by Decree 97/1996 of 3 April; today it is visited under the roof inaugurated in 2009, the work of architects Paredes and Pedrosa.
