Vidrieros Curiosity · Triollo, Montaña Palentina, Palencia Image of Triollo, not of the place itself. A high-mountain hamlet at the head of the Carrión valley, at the foot of the Curavacas peak and near the Camporredondo reservoir, a pedanía (dependent hamlet) of the municipality of Triollo governed by a residents' council. The area was the setting for Augustus's campaigns against the Cantabri in the 1st century BC, with three Roman camps. The village originally grew up around its 12th-century Romanesque church, but the building of a new road in the 18th century led residents to move to the lower part, leaving the church standing on its own; it also preserves a cross of Celtic origin. It came to form its own municipality, with 140 residents in 1842, before being merged into Triollo. Its festivities, dedicated to Nuestra Señora and San Roque, are celebrated on 15 and 16 August.
