The Las Loras Global Geopark Nature · Sotresgudo, Odra-Pisuerga, Burgos Image of Sotresgudo, not of the place itself. The Las Loras Geopark, included in the Unesco European Geoparks Network on 5 May 2017 as the eleventh in Spain, extends across sixteen municipalities of Burgos and Palencia, among them Sotresgudo. It covers 95,076 hectares of limestone highlands separated by river canyons, with notable geological interest that includes karst formations, canyons such as that of the Alto Ebro and the Rudrón, faults, and former oil fields such as that of Ayoluengo. Its natural sites include Covalagua, Las Tuerces and the Horadada canyon, and among its cultural sites, Iron Age settlements such as Monte Bernorio, Monte Cildá and Peña Amaya, the latter right next to the municipal boundary of Sotresgudo itself. Nearly a third of the municipality is included in the Natura 2000 Network. Photo: MottaW (CC BY-SA 3.0) What to see and do in Sotresgudo
