Arévalo Village · Arévalo, La Moraña, Ávila Arévalo is a city in the province of Ávila, capital of the comarca of La Moraña or Tierra de Arévalo, set at 828 metres on the tongue of land formed where the Adaja and Arevalillo rivers meet, a typical location for medieval settlements founded south of the Duero for defensive reasons. Known as the city of the Five Lineages, its old town is a site of cultural interest and holds one of the most notable groups of Castilian Mudéjar architecture, also called brick Romanesque. The comarca owes its name to the Moorish settlers from the time when the Christian-Muslim frontier ran along the Duero, and it lives on rain-fed cereals with pulses. Arévalo is, with around 7,850 inhabitants, the second-largest town in the province; it preserves a pentagonal castle with a cereal museum. Photo: David Perez (CC BY 3.0) What to see and do in Arévalo
