Pilgrimage of San Marcos de Méntrida Activity · Méntrida, Torrijos, Toledo Image of Méntrida, not of the place itself. Pilgrimage in honor of Nuestra Señora de la Natividad, patron saint of Méntrida, which lasts for several days and is the town's most crowded festival. It begins on April 23 with the Alboreá or night Alborada, to the sound of bugles and drums; the following day the opening speech is read and the floral offering is made at the hermitage. On April 25 the Virgin leaves through the parish door and the pilgrimage to the hermitage of the Dehesa de Berciana begins, with dancers performing before her. The return, on the 26th and 27th, includes stops at two crossroads along the way and masses, while families gather in ranchos to celebrate alongside the image. 23 al 27 de abril Photo: Jerónimo López de Ayala (Public domain) What to see and do in Méntrida
