Hermitage of Nuestra Señora de la Soledad de Fuensalida Monument · Fuensalida, Torrijos, Toledo Image of Fuensalida, not of the place itself. The hermitage of Nuestra Señora de la Soledad, in Fuensalida (Toledo), is dedicated to the town's patron saint, around whom one of the main celebrations of the year revolves. Its origin dates back to the early 16th century, when Pedro López de Ayala, III count of Fuensalida, ordered a hospital dedicated to Nuestra Señora de la Concepción to be built on this site, next to the palace being built in the town. Work was halted after the count's death in 1537 and led to a lawsuit between his widow and the town council, which finally managed to complete the building. Already in the 17th century, from 1666 onward, the hospital came to be called Nuestra Señora de la Soledad, the name of the image it houses today alongside other works of art.
