The economy of Fuensalida (Torrijos, Toledo) has been based for decades on the manufacture of footwear and wooden furniture, alongside the production of oil and wine. The footwear industry grew out of small family workshops that increased in size and output throughout the 20th century, until the town became the largest footwear producer in the province; it also has a specialized technology center for the sector, ASIDCAT. The oil is made in a mill in the town itself, and the wine in several wineries and cooperatives under the Méntrida Designation of Origin.
