Hermitage of Ronda Monument · El Carpio de Tajo, Torrijos, Toledo Image of El Carpio de Tajo, not of the place itself. Ruins of the hermitage dedicated to the Virgen de Ronda, patron saint of El Carpio de Tajo (Toledo), located in a picturesque spot on the banks of the Tagus, on the site of the original settlement; the image of the Virgin was moved to the parish church once the hermitage fell into ruin. The original settlement had stood in the Ronda area and moved to higher ground around the 12th century because of the unhealthy conditions caused by the river. The patronal festivities are held on the Sunday after Easter (domingo de cuasimodo), with three days of fireworks, processions and the parade of the Virgin on her adorned float.
