The famous episode of the bunch of grapes from Lazarillo de Tormes, published in 1554, is set in Almorox during the grape harvest. The original text tells it as follows: “It happened that, arriving at a place called Almorox at the time when the grapes were being picked, a grape-picker gave him a bunch of grapes as alms.” The grapes, very ripe at that time of year, fell apart in Lázaro's hand.
