Vicente, Sabina and Cristeta Curiosity · Talavera de la Reina, Talavera, Toledo The three Talavera-born siblings were martyred in Ávila around the year 304, in the time of Diocletian. In 1603 a hermitage under their patronage was blessed in Talavera, beside the cemetery opened after the plague of 1599. According to tradition, Vicente, the eldest, took charge of his sisters Sabina and Cristeta when they were orphaned; denounced as a Christian before the Roman prefect Publio Daciano, he refused to renounce his faith and, taken to the temple of Jupiter to be sacrificed, the stone softened beneath his feet, leaving his footprints marked, today venerated on a slab preserved in Talavera. The three siblings then fled to the mountain range that today bears their name, but were finally captured and martyred in Ávila.
