Victoria Theatre Monument · Talavera de la Reina, Talavera, Toledo The Victoria Theatre was built in 1912 on the site of the former 17th-century comedy playhouse, demolished in 1892, and later took the name Teatro Mariana in honour of the Talavera-born historian father Juan de Mariana. Its façade, of three storeys and symmetrical composition, combines Modernist architecture with tilework by Juan Ruiz de Luna, featuring allegories of music and theatre, portraits of playwrights and musicians and the names of zarzuelas, as well as ornate metal balconies and iron wall lamps. The interior has plasterwork decoration, with wrought-iron balustrades and metal pillars. Reacquired by the town council, it was restored in 1991.
