Canoeing Routes on the Tagus Activity · Talavera de la Reina, Talavera, Toledo Image of Talavera de la Reina, not of the place itself. The canoeing routes along the urban stretch of the Tajo as it passes through Talavera de la Reina are guided descents that allow visitors to view its three historic bridges from the water. The oldest is the Old Bridge, or Santa Catalina Bridge, with possible Roman foundations; next comes the Iron Bridge, or Queen Sofía Bridge, opened on 25 October 1908, 426 metres long and supported by two abutments and nine piers forming ten iron-and-steel spans of 41 metres each; and the most modern, the Prince Felipe Bridge, opened on 12 July 1973, 19 metres wide and 805 metres long in total including its approaches.
