Chapel of Santa Leocadia Monument · Talavera de la Reina, Talavera, Toledo Image of Talavera de la Reina, not of the place itself. The chapel of the Collegiate Church of Talavera preserves The Apparition of Santa Leocadia to San Ildefonso and King Recceswinth, an oil painting measuring 266 by 156 centimetres, dated 1592, above the tombstone, the work of Blas de Prado, a Mannerist painter probably born around 1545 in Camarena (Toledo) and who died in Madrid around 1599. His technique of light, assured brushwork, with Italian influences arriving through El Escorial and through prints rather than through a journey to Italy, shows Venetian echoes alongside features recalling the style of El Greco.
