Kappanas, the Roman origin of Cabañas

The settlement goes back to Roman times, when it was called Kappanas. Alfonso VI granted it to Archbishop Bernard of Cluny, and in 1213 Rodrigo Jiménez de Rada transferred it to the cathedral of Toledo.
