The festivities of the Virgen del Castillo, patron saint of Cabezamesada (La Mancha de Toledo), unfold over several months: on 15 August the image is carried down in procession from her hermitage to the village church, the main festival is held on the first weekend of September, and between the second and third weekends of October, depending on the grape harvest, the Virgen is carried back up to her hermitage. During the festivities the traditional auction and raffle of farm produce takes place, offered by local residents in thanks for the year's harvest.
