Mountain range of Altamira Nature · Mohedas de la Jara, La Jara, Toledo Mountain range that reaches 1,324 metres and marks the western boundary of La Jara, covered with jaral scrub, holm oak groves and low scrubland with the presence of roe deer. It forms part of the Montes de Toledo, on the boundary between Extremadura and Castilla-La Mancha, and together with the sierras of Sevilleja, de la Hiruela and del Horno makes up the so-called Sierras de la Jara. It is crossed by three mountain passes -Arrebatacapas, San Vicente and Puerto Rey- that connect the districts of La Jara and Las Villuercas. In August 2006 a forest fire devastated some 3,200 hectares of mountainside, forcing the evacuation of the town of Puerto de San Vicente.
