Festivities of el Santo Cristo de la Agonía Activity · Matarrubia, La Campiña, Guadalajara Image of Matarrubia, not of the place itself. The festivities of the Santo Cristo de la Agonía are the main festivities of Matarrubia (La Campiña, Guadalajara), in honour of the village's patron, and coincide with the Cruz de Mayo, the first weekend of the month. They include religious acts, concerts, children's activities and a painting contest. It is tradition to put up the mayos, young trees on the balconies of unmarried young women, although depopulation has reduced the custom to a single symbolic mayo in the Plaza Mayor.
