Church of San Esteban de Humanes Monument · Humanes, La Campiña, Guadalajara The parish church of San Esteban, in Humanes (Guadalajara), has two naves, a Latin-cross plan and a rubble-stone tower dated 1508. The presbytery and the crossing are the work of the master stonemasons Juan de Ballesteros and Juanes de Iriarte, built between 1570 and 1604, with a portico facing south formed of alcarreño-type columns similar to those of the Concathedral of Santa María de Guadalajara. The porticoed gallery, typical of the rural style of the area, rests on five columns on a plinth and provides the usual entrance to the temple. Inside are the raised choir, the baptistery, with a font decorated with arches, and the sacristy. On its walls 34 masons' marks of 17 different types have been identified.
