The cold of Storm Filomena

Laguna del Marquesado sits at 1,320 metres above sea level, in the middle of a polje of karstic origin surrounded by mountains of around 1,500 metres, in the Serranía Alta of Cuenca. Its high-mountain climate, with frequent snowfalls, places the town among the settlements of the Iberian System with the lowest minimum temperatures. This was shown on 12 January 2021, during storm Filomena, when the weather station by the river recorded -21.8°C, the lowest temperature on record in the town.
