Pine and oak forests of El Pozuelo Nature · El Pozuelo, Serranía Alta, Cuenca Image of El Pozuelo, not of the place itself. El Pozuelo (Serranía Alta, Cuenca), at 1,218 metres above sea level, preserves hills of pine, oak, scrubland and other bushes, with broad pastures that sustained a farming and livestock economy for centuries. Wheat, rye, potatoes, beans and vegetables were traditionally grown, and sheep farming was the main livestock activity, supported by two dehesas of excellent-quality pasture, that of Arriba and that of Abajo. The area was also rich in game (hares, partridges, rabbits, wild boar and roe deer) and in trout and barbel fishing. Photo: Diego Delso (CC BY-SA 4.0) What to see and do in El Pozuelo
