The Quintos of Villalpardo Activity · Villalpardo, La Manchuela Conquense, Cuenca Image of Villalpardo, not of the place itself. The Quintos week of Villalpardo (the Manchuela Conquense, Cuenca) is normally celebrated in the second week of February. It traditionally brought together the 18-year-old youths who had to prepare for military service, who during the following year played roles such as the Three Kings at Christmas or took part in Holy Week; today, with military service abolished, the girls of that age group also take part. On Saturday the pollo is celebrated, the ceremonial exchange of caps between the outgoing and incoming quintos, and during the week the typical borrachos sweets are handed out and contributions are requested in the streets with conch shells and small mortars, closing on Sunday with a communal meal provided by the mothers of the village.
