In 1916, as part of a general reform of municipal nomenclature that affected 573 town councils across Spain and was recorded in the Gaceta de Madrid, the town of Valhermoso, in the province of Cuenca, which until then had that simple name, officially became known as Valhermoso de la Fuente.
