Convent of las Clarisas de Sisante Monument · Sisante, La Manchuela Conquense, Cuenca Image of Sisante, not of the place itself. A convent of Poor Clare nuns in Sisante that has its origin in a beaterio founded on 6 January 1695 by Father Cristóbal Jesús Hortelano, with seven women devoted to religious life in community. The present building, of three floors with an infirmary, novitiate, refectory and workroom, was built between 14 October 1702 and 18 May 1708. It safeguards an image of the Padre Jesús Nazareno attributed to the sculptor Luisa Roldán, commissioned by King Charles II from his court sculptor as a gift for the pope, and which arrived at the convent on 14 September 1711; according to tradition, it is carried in procession only once every hundred years. The convent also preserves an image of the Dolorosa. Photo: Viquipèdia (CC BY-SA 3.0) What to see and do in Sisante
