Enrique de Villena and his library Historical milestone · Iniesta, La Manchuela Conquense, Cuenca Image of Iniesta, not of the place itself. Enrique de Aragón, better known as Enrique de Villena, lord of the town of Iniesta and also of Cifuentes, count of Cangas y Tineo and Master of the Order of Calatrava, settled in Iniesta and assembled there a library remarkable for its time. Born around 1384 in Torralba de Cuenca, he was the last legitimate descendant of the House of Barcelona and wrote in Castilian and Valencian, translating numerous works of medicine, theology, astronomy and literature, a good part of which was lost. On his death in Madrid in 1434, the bishop and inquisitor Lope de Barrientos ordered a good part of those books to be burned. siglo XV Photo: Diki Vader (CC BY-SA 4.0) What to see and do in Iniesta
