The western slope of the sierra de Bascuñana Nature · Villar de Domingo García, La Alcarria Conquense, Cuenca Image of Villar de Domingo García, not of the place itself. The municipal area encompasses the western slope of the Sierra de Bascuñana, with elevations ranging from 1,355 metres down to 890 metres in the Guadamejud valley. This sierra, one of the westernmost of the Sistema Ibérico, lies in La Alcarria Conquense and forms a north-south anticline about 35 kilometres long and 3 wide, extending from Mariana to the Estrecho de Priego, continuing northward into the Sierra del Rodenal. It is crossed by the Guadiela, Escabas and Trabaque rivers, which have carved gorges such as those of Las Tejeras and Priego. Photo: Emilio J.
