The sanctuary of Our Lady of the Monte, patron saint of La Peraleja, was set on fire on the night of 31 July 1936 by militiamen who had arrived from Tarancón and later completely torn down. It was rebuilt in 1939, as recorded on a plaque on the façade, designed and built under the direction of José González Vaquero. The feast of the Virgin of the Monte is celebrated on 8 September.
