Former Miners' Hospital

Monument · Almadenejos, Valle de Alcudia, Ciudad Real

Image of Almadenejos, not of the place itself.

The former Hospital de Mineros (Miners' Hospital) of Almadenejos (Valle de Alcudia, Ciudad Real) stands on the Plaza de la Constitución and treated workers from the area's mines, who were affected by illnesses caused by mercury. It was built in the late 17th century, around the same time the Concepción Vieja mine was discovered and began to be worked.
