The patronal festivities of Our Lady of Mercy are held in Los Cortijos with processions and dawn rosaries in the municipality's two quarters, each of which has its own church: the lower quarter honours the Virgin on 24 September and the upper quarter on 25 September. The events open with a pregón (public proclamation) on the 23rd and close on the 26th with traditional children's games, such as the ribbon game, pucheros (a pot-breaking game) or the cucaña (greasy pole). These are festivities that bring together numerous residents and relatives from different parts of Spain every year.
