Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción de Anchuras Monument · Anchuras, Montes de Ciudad Real, Ciudad Real Image of Anchuras, not of the place itself. Parish church of Anchuras, in the Montes de Ciudad Real, consecrated in 1676 by the Archbishop of Toledo Pascual Aragón, who granted it parish status. It is the main monument of this village, isolated at the western edge of the province. It was built on a small platform on the slope of the Cerro del Pastuero to house the image of the Virgin of Gamonal, which until then had been venerated in a hermitage located two kilometres away. The original construction had a single nave covered with a timber frame, reflecting the simplicity of its materials. Photo: 19Tarrestnom65 (CC BY-SA 4.0) What to see and do in Anchuras
