The firing range of Anchuras

The PSOE government decided to install a training and firing range for the Air Force in Anchuras and its adjoining lands, a project that had ultimately not been sited in Cabañeros. The Royal Decree of 20 July 1988 declared the area a Zone of Interest for Defence, which triggered a movement of environmentalist, pacifist, partisan and local opposition. The protest continued until 1996, the year in which the new PP government repealed the decree and the project was revoked.
