The source of the Villanueva River

The spring of the Villanueva river rises within the very town of Villanueva de la Fuente (Campo de Montiel, Ciudad Real) and is the natural overflow of aquifer 24. After a short course through its valley it flows into the Guadalmena river, which carries its waters as far as the Guadalquivir. As early as the 19th century, a spring was described south of the village, near the houses, from which an abundant stream immediately gushed forth, taking the name of the town.
