The donation to the Order of Santiago

Settlement of the castle began after the battle of Las Navas de Tolosa in 1212, and in 1225 don Pedro Fernández de Castro donated the place to the Order of Santiago. In 1575 it still appeared as a hamlet dependent on Montiel.
