The church of Nuestra Señora de la Consolación de Villar del Pozo (Campo de Calatrava, Ciudad Real) has its origins in the 13th century and was for centuries the only parish of the three nearby population centres. Reinaugurated on 1 June 1889, it suffered severe damage during the Civil War, and in 1962 its roof collapsed. The current building was erected in 1969 to plans by the architect Fernando Luis Bendito, based on a preliminary design by Luis Cubillos de Arteaga, occupying only half of the original plot.
