The emperor's coat of arms Curiosity · Valenzuela de Calatrava, Campo de Calatrava, Ciudad Real Image of Valenzuela de Calatrava, not of the place itself. Valenzuela obtained town status in 1538 by privilege of Carlos V and adopted a coat of arms bearing the imperial double-headed eagle, the cross of Calatrava, the castle and the Golden Fleece. It added the surname de Calatrava in 1920 to distinguish itself from the Cordoban municipality of the same name.
