Baths of Fuensanta Nature · Pozuelo de Calatrava, Campo de Calatrava, Ciudad Real The Baños de Fuensanta are a former spa of mineral-medicinal waters in the municipal district of Pozuelo de Calatrava, built on the orders of Infante Gabriel of Bourbon and Saxony, brother of Charles IV; the first studies on its waters were published in 1820. The spring emerges from a limestone rock at the centre of a pool built as a bath by order of the infante. At the end of the 19th century the waters were recommended for rheumatism, neurosis, neuralgia or menstrual disorders. The complex came to have an archive, a house for the doctor, a Guardia Civil post, a chapel, a telephone exchange, a tavern and a dance hall, and received around three thousand people during the summer season, with bullfights among its activities.
