Antolina Natividad David Valiente became mayor of Ballesteros de Calatrava in 1933, the first woman to hold the post in the town, and to this day the only one. A qualified state schoolteacher by profession, she had been born in Arrigorriaga (Vizcaya) on 2 September 1907 and reached the mayoralty during the Second Republic through a Comisión Gestora Municipal. She died in Ballesteros de Calatrava on 18 October 1942.
