Reservoir of Talave

Dam and reservoir located on the course of the río Mundo, in the hamlet of Talave, within the municipality of Liétor in the province of Albacete. The dam is 38 metres high, 7.10 metres wide at the crest and 32.2 metres at the base, and the reservoir serves a dual function of regulating flows for irrigation and supplying water to the Región de Murcia. Since 1979 it has also received inflows from the Tajo-Segura transfer, which ends its course there before entering the Segura basin. It covers an area of 295 hectares, with a maximum capacity of 39.11 cubic hectometres, 23.6 kilometres of shoreline and 9.1 kilometres of flooded course of the río Mundo.
