Iberian settlement of El Amarejo Nature · Bonete, Monte Ibérico-Corredor de Almansa, Albacete Image of Bonete, not of the place itself. Iberian settlement on the Amarejo hill, conical in shape and about 50 metres high above the surrounding land, some 2.5 kilometres south of Bonete and at 927 metres above sea level. Declared a Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection) on 28 April 1992, it preserves the remains of dwellings and a votive well about four metres deep cut into the rock, dated between the 4th and 2nd centuries BC, filled with mudbrick, ashes and predominantly female offerings: sewing needles, gold appliqués, spindle whorls and lead strips with south-eastern Iberian script. Among the finds, a silver belt buckle stands out, depicting an Iberian warrior, a horse and a palm tree, with iconography close to Punic coinage, along with pottery in the Meca-Amarejo style and remains of wheat, barley, almonds and grapes that point to an ancient climate more humid than today's.
