Cave of el Queso Nature · Alpera, Monte Ibérico-Corredor de Almansa, Albacete Image of Alpera, not of the place itself. Rock shelter with rock art in the municipal district of Alpera, discovered by the prehistorian Henri Breuil together with Carasoles del Bosque I and II. It has been a Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection) since 17 February 1997 and, together with the rest of Alpera's rock art complex, forms part of the 1998 World Heritage declaration under the heading “Rock Art of the Mediterranean Basin on the Iberian Peninsula”, which brings together representations of Epipalaeolithic Levantine art, some 10,000 years old, and Neolithic schematic art, some 6,500 years old.
