Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción de Mahora Monument · Mahora, La Manchuela, Albacete The church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción de Mahora, in the Albacete region of La Manchuela, has been declared a Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection) since 1992. It is a single-nave Gothic church with a chancel from the early 16th century, lower and of a different fabric from the body of the church, covered with a star vault and a raised choir resting on three 18th-century arches; in its second bay stands out the Baroque Rosario chapel, with a dome on pendentives. The bell tower, of prismatic plan and octagonal top, dated 1646, was restored in 2015 with funding from the Diocese of Albacete and the European Union. It is entered through a doorway topped by an 18th-century arch, and inside is kept a 17th-century ivory crucifix of Hispano-Philippine origin, along with a figure of the Christ Child.
