Church of Santa Quiteria de Casas de Ves Monument · Casas de Ves, La Manchuela, Albacete The church of Santa Quiteria, near the plaza Mayor of Casas de Ves, is a 16th-century building in simple Romanesque architecture, with thick rubble-masonry walls reinforced at the corners and a wooden roof. Its square tower, built of three tiers of ashlar stone, culminates in a belfry topped with a cornice of spherical and pyramidal finials and gargoyles. In 1748 the current Latin-cross transept was added, with a nave crowned by an octagonal lantern tower and a raised dome, and a spacious presbytery. The entrance, on the southeast façade, opens between two buttresses beneath a vaulted atrium and a stone pediment in relief. The church, declared a Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection) on 31 July 1995, also has four chapels attached to its side façades; the image of the saint appears on the municipal coat of arms.
