The parish church of Adeje, declared a Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection), which arose from an early hermitage built in the first decades of the 16th century. It houses the Virgen de la Encarnación, patron saint of the municipality, and the only Baroque representation of the Virgen de Guadalupe preserved in the Canary Islands.
